Literature Text

Wandering alone on this cold dark night,

Ice crystals glimmering like black diamonds,

Under the smile of the pale moon light.

Blinding my eyes within their beauty shining.

Can't my heart be like the frozen ground?

That my feet tread so lightly on,

Barely a whisper, making a sound,

And too many times she's been stepped upon.

And I try to keep her frozen,

I try to freeze her cold.

Scarred from being so broken,

Beating rough from wounds so old.

Yet still she keeps on beating,

Melting my snow every time.

A thousand winds to be so fleeting,

Does nothing to ease my mind.

Opens herself up for the sting of pain,

Opens herself up for the passion of love.

Tries so hard to sustain,

In a world that's so willing to give up...

Love is sustained by the dreamers and those who accept the risk of a broken heart. Chillingly beautiful.
